I live closest to the NHC Public Library's Northeast Branch & love this one.
I haven't been to the other branches in a couple years but look forward to bringing my kids to each of them and exploring what each branch has to offer. Especially since if you check out books from one NHC library you can return it to any other NHC library - so convenient!
There are 4 public libraries in New Hanover County.
The Main Library & Law Library is located at 20 Chestnut St in the Downtown Wilmington area.
The Myrtle Grove Library is at 5155 South College Rd & is located towards the southern end of New Hanover County.
Pleasure Island Library is at 1401 N. Lake Park Blvd in Carolina Beach!
The Northeast Regional Library is at 1241 Military Cutoff, it's towards the Mayfaire area in Wilmington.
The children's room at the NE branch is a welcoming spot & invites kids in. Not only are there several low bookcases so they can independently select their own books but there are seating areas, a table, train table (perfect for distracting my toddler so his sister can read), & even some interactive activities on the walls for kids to play with.
There are so many free activities & programs for all ages that the libraries host. There are multiple Storytime opportunities for young children some with movement/dance included, art classes, lego club, job labs, divorce clinics, yoga, workshops, teen gaming sessions, book sales, book clubs, computer classes, & even times where kids can read to therapy dogs!

Don't have a NHC library card yet? No worries, it's super easy & free for residents of New Hanover Count. Bring in your driver's license and proof of your address. Public school children can link up to their school account so they can borrow 2 books at a time or can get their own library card which will allow them to borrow more for up to 3 weeks. Go get a library card!
